BTEC Sport and Exercise Sciences

BTEC sport and exercise sciences level 3 Extended diploma

Our BTEC sport and exercise sciences level 3 course is run over two years for students in the 6th form. The course is predominantly made up of coursework based assessments with practical assessments also being part of most units. Over the two year course students will cover up to 18 different units which vary in topic and content.

Course topics include:

– Leadership and coaching

– Anatomy and physiology

– Fitness testing

– Outdoor and adventurous activities

– Sports development

– Practical participation in team and individual sports

On the BTEC sports and exercise sciences course you will have the opportunity to organise and run a variety of different sports events for primary schools within the area. You will also learn about how to become a coach and the skills needed to be successful. This course will give you an excellent start if you wish to become a sports coach in the future.

As part of the course, students also receive their own BTEC Sports PE kit which they are expected to wear for all practical lessons. Below is a full lists of units which you could cover on the course.
